Football

UPDATE: I realise the Spurs team I have fielded is SLIGHTLY out of date, and so will be updated shortly. Further to this, the World XI has about 5 retired players in it so that will have to be updated at some point too. Be patient, its worth it.

I am going to be totally unoriginal in that I am a boy who absolutely loves football, but it is only the truth.
I support Spurs fairly radically, because although I am no hardcore season ticket holder, I follow my team with alert interest, and go to see a handful of games each season.

Although the situation at my team seems to have improved vastly, it blatantly hasn’t, and at time of writing we have JUST BEATEN CHELSEA but generally are doing very badly. Did I forget to say I am an optimist?

The current team as I think it should be is here, and below you can see them playing against my world eleven.

Robinson
Chimbonda
Ekotto
King
Dawson
Tainio
Malbranque
Jenas
Lennon
Keane
Berbatov

I am open to complaints and opinions on my team. And hopefully Martin Jol will take note too.

I am also very interested in European football, not because of the standard of football, which isn’t honestly that great, but because of some of the great players that play abroad.

I pretty much have a favourite team for each major footballing country. Here they are:
Scotland: Celtic
France: Paris SG
Holland: Ajax
Spain: Barcelona
Italy: Juventus
Germany: Borussia Dortmund
Israel: Maccabi Haifa

I hope you can excuse the addition of Israel to the bottom of the list, but it has certain values to me (see Myself: Family) so I found it necessary to add.

On the international scene, I obviously support England, although I do root for Israel when they play (and lose). However, during Euro 2004, teams such as Sweden and the Czech Republic certainly caught my eye.

An international dream team including players from all over the globe is a must, so here is mine:
Cech (Chelsea/Czech Rep.)
Thuram (Juventus/France)
Nesta (AC Milan/Italy)
Athirson (Juventus/Brazil)
Rosicky (B.Dortmund/Czech Rep.)
Nedved (Juventus/Czech Rep.)
Robben (Chelsea/Holland)
Ronaldinho (Barcelona/Brazil)
Crouch (S'oton)
Henry (Arsenal/France)
Adriano (Inter/Brazil)
Controversial, I know, but with so many good players to choose from, you could make several dream teams all as good as each other.
And here is my Spurs dream team playing against my World XI. 2-2 I reckon the result would be.

Dream Team

And to finish...
Come on you Spurs!
